Our Faith & Community
In this section of our website we would like to share our images of events and visits with you. We have also added information about our close links with our parish and local community, some visit our school on a regular basis and work closely with us to help make changes.
Here at St Bede’s Catholic Primary School we know that learning isn’t only in the classroom and we openly embrace all opportunities to be involved in the community.
We join the parish for mass throughout the school year and we also visit Sacriston Methodist Church for their Advent and Lenten Journeys.
We have developed a strong relationship with the local community centre, The Fulforth Centre, Durham County Council’s Civic Pride team, Churches Together, local Elected Councillors and Durham Constabulary to name but a few.
Our intrinsic link with The Fulforth Centre ensures we see the children enjoy workshops and focus groups, a real opportunity for them to be part of decision making within the community and a key part of them maturing in to active citizens and understanding social responsibility. This year’s highlight was Sacriston in Bloom, which the children attended and were rightly awarded for their accomplishments. We are now looking forward continuing to take an active role in Sacriston in Bloom and the annual Christmas Extravaganza, which this year will take place on Monday 25th November from 4:00pm. We are currently working on a community project, with Gemma O’Brien, by recycling plastic bottle tops to create a lovely, colourful butterfly that will hopefully hang outside school when completed.
We welcome everyone to join our St Bede’s community, the door is always open to old friends and new friends alike.
